BYD to Expand UK Lineup With Six New Models in 2026

BYD plans to launch six additional models in the UK next year, its regional sales and marketing manager Steve Beattie said.

In an interview with local media outlet Auto Express, Beattie revealed that BYD‘s Atto 2 SUV will be launched in September and the plug-in hybrid version will arrive “sometime in 2026.”

According to the brand, the model is “Europe’s most affordable SUV.”

By year end, the brand intends to launch the plug-in hybrid Seal 5 and Seal 6 saloon models. The country manager told the outlet that, besides the Seal sedan, the Atto 3 SUV will also see a facelift later this year.

Beattie stated that three more new models will be joining the lineup next year.

Details remain unknown, however, one of them could be the Shark pickup — as Steve Beattie said that BYD is testing Australian-spec (right-hand drive) pickups in the UK.

BYD‘s portfolio in the country currently features both battery electric and plug-in hybrid models.

The brand is offering its fully electric Dolphin compact, the Seal sedan, and the Atto 3 and Sealion 7 SUV, with entry-level prices going from £26,205 ($35,400) to £47,000 ($63,500).

BYD‘s Dolphin Surf compact just arrived in the country and it is priced from £18,650 ($25,100). The model was launched in Europe last month. In China, its equivalent Seagull costs less than $8,000, after the latest price cuts.

The hybrid lineup is made up of one plug-in hybrid model, the Seal U DM-i SUV, priced from £33,300 ($44,800).

BYD registered 3,025 vehicles in the UK last month, posting a 407.6% soar year over year, according to the SMMT. The brand arrived in the country in late 2023.

Hybrids represented 26% of vehicle sales in May, while fully electric vehicles accounted for 22% of the market.

According to the country manager, BYD is currently present in 75 locations in the UK, and plans to expand its dealership network to 90 stores by September.
