Weekly vehicle registrations for Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng fell to 5,800 units in the week of May 12-18, according to data circulating on Chinese social media on Tuesday.
The figure marks a 15.6% decline from the previous week as the company aims to reach more than 30,000 vehicles delivered for the seventh consecutive month.
In April, XPeng averaged 6,990 registrations per week in its domestic market.
Other Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) brands — such as Li Auto — sold 9,200 vehicles last week, while Leapmotor and Xiaomi sold 7,500 and 7,200 units, respectively.
BYD sold over 55,000 fully electric and hybrid models from May 12 to 18.
Premium brand Zeekr recorded 3,600 units, while its main competitor Nio brand registered 4,200 vehicles. Nio Group’s sales totaled 6,600 units, with 1,580 Onvo and 800 Firefly units.
Tesla recovered to 11,100 vehicles sold, a surge of 258% from the previous week. Registrations of the U.S. brand had declined sharply from over 10,000 units in the last week of April to a 3,000 unit-low in two weeks.
Upcoming Models
XPeng unveiled on Tuesday its Mona M03 Max model, with deliveries starting later this month.
The Mona M03 is priced from 119,800 yuan ($16,620), while the Max version will start at about 155,800 yuan ($21,610) — the entry-level variant already offers high-level intelligent driving assistance and has new interior and vehicle exterior color options.
Last week, the brand also unveiled the refreshed version of its P7 sedan, which was first launched in 2019 in its home market.
The model will be priced within the 300,000 yuan ($41,600) segment and features advanced ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System) in both urban and highway scenarios without using LiDAR technology.
Images shared on social media showed that the new model has scissor doors and will be available in a fluorescent green color.
A few days after expanding to Italy, the company announced it is expanding into Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
The Chinese automaker entered a distribution agreement with Modus Group. XPeng aims to expand to at least 60 markets this year, doubling from last year.
