Chinese carmaker XPeng registered 8,060 vehicles between February 10 and 16, surpassing Li Auto and becoming the best-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) startup.
According to data shared by the Chinese carmaker on Tuesday, XPeng‘s insurance registrations jumped 138% week over week from the 3,400 units recorded between February 3 and 9.
The company said last Friday that its orders in the first week after the Chinese Spring Festival were 7.6 times higher than the same period in 2024.

Last week, XPeng registered 4,110 Mona M03 and 2,510 P7+ sedans, with other models totaling 1,440 units. In January, the M03 ranked 9th with 15,200 units, while the P7+ placed 18th with 8,100 units.
In 2024, its exports surged 233% year over year to over 5,000 vehicles. The company plans to double its global presence in 2025, expanding to 60 countries, including the UK, South America, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Li Auto, mainly sells plug-in hybrids and often leads the ranking among NEV startups, registered 7,500 units (+60% WoW), followed by Xiaomi’s SU7 at 6,900 (+57%). The premium brand Zeekr registered 3,600 vehicles, while Nio logged 1,900.
The Stellantis-backed brand Leapmotor registered 5,200 units while Aito’s insurance registrations stood at 3,000.
Earlier this month, the Guangzhou-based brand announced it is now offering a 0% down payment and zero-interest financing program for three years on its P7i sedan and G6 SUV, claiming savings can reach 20,000 yuan ($2,750) and 18,000 yuan ($2,450), respectively.
The world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, reduced its stake in Chinese carmaker XPeng in Q4 to 4.7% after selling 10.03 million shares in the last quarter of 2024.
