XPeng will unveil a new, faster-charging variant of its flagship P7+ at the Shanghai Auto Show, according to a post by CEO He Xiaopeng on Weibo this Monday.
“Let me share some exciting news: On April 23 at the Shanghai Auto Show, we will launch the XPeng P7+ Ultra Long Range Max Flagship Edition,” the chief executive of the Guangzhou-based carmaker wrote on social media.
The new variant of XPeng‘s flagship sedan will be equipped with “a 5C ultra-fast charging AI battery” that is “capable of powering a month’s commute with just 10 minutes of charging,” He Xiaopeng added.
“In 2025, XPeng Motors will fully enter the 5C era,” Xiaopeng said. The term indicates that the battery can charge at five times its capacity per hour. The brand has already equipped its recently launched refreshed versions of the G6, G9, and X9 models with 5C batteries.
The company detailed the technology used on its “5C ultra-fast charging AI battery” last week at a global event held in Hong Kong. When paired with its S5 liquid-cooled charging station, “1km range can be added on a one-second charge, reaching 80% in just 12 minutes”, the company stated.
In the same Weibo post shared on Monday, the CEO said that “with further improvements in charging speed and driving experience,” the company “aims to meet the demands of more discerning users while promoting broader adoption of 5C ultra-fast charging.”
P7+ Launch
XPeng’s P7+ was launched last November in Guangzhou, with a starting price of 186,800 yuan ($25,600). On the same day, He Xiaopeng said on Weibo that the P7+ received more than 10,000 orders in the first 12 minutes.
The electric is a mid to large-size sedan — 5,056 mm in length, 1,937 in width and 1,512 in height — with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, larger than the P7i sedan model.
At the time of the launch, He Xiaopeng stated that the P7+ would be pushed into the global markets. Despite debuting at the Paris Auto Show last October, as of today, no details are known for the arrival of the flagship sedan to European markets.
