XPeng to Reveal Refreshed P7 on August 6

Chinese carmaker XPeng said on Wednesday it will unveil a revamped version of its P7 sedan on August 6 at an event in Beijing, as it continues to refresh its lineup and prepares to introduce hybrid variants of select models.

Shipments of the updated model have already begun arriving at showrooms across China ahead of the first test drives.

“The all-new XPeng P7 is here!” the company said in a WeChat post, describing the model as a “stylish, luxury electric coupe” with a “reimagined” design and five years of refinement behind it.

Pricing details have not yet been disclosed, but the new P7 is expected to compete in the 300,000 yuan ($41,800) range.

The vehicle will support XPeng’s Navigate on Pilot (NGP) driver assistance system for both urban and highway use.

Powertrain options include a single-motor rear-wheel-drive version with 270 kW of output, and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant combining a 167 kW front motor with a 270 kW rear motor.

The original P7 sedan launched in April 2020, with deliveries beginning that June. The 100,000th unit rolled off the production line in March 2022 at XPeng’s Zhaoqing plant, just 695 days after its debut — a record among EV startups in China at the time.

The first-generation P7 was offered in three versions and eight configurations, priced between 229,900 yuan and 349,900 yuan ($32,462–$49,404 after subsidies).

A special “Wing” edition featuring gullwing doors was later introduced at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November 2020, priced from 366,900 yuan for the RWD model and 409,000 yuan for the AWD variant.

XPeng recorded 8,400 insurance registrations in the fourth week of July, rebounding from earlier softness and putting the company on track to extend its streak of monthly deliveries above 30,000 units for a ninth consecutive month.
