XPeng announced on Wednesday that it will launch the revamped X9 model on March 2.
The upcoming vehicle is the third generation of the battery electric (BEV) version of the MPV.
The first version was launched back in January 2024 in China, as XPeng‘s first MPV, followed by the debut of the Gen-2 in April 2025.
Alongside the announcement, the company also unveiled, on the social media platform Weibo, limited-time pre-order benefits for the updated model, including “a 2,000 yuan ($300) reservation deposit” and a 7,000 yuan ($1,000) promotion on the purchase price.
Although pre-orders for the 2026 X9 BEV began at the end of January, the brand has yet to disclose pricing details.
On Friday, XPeng will conduct a Q&A livestream regarding the upcoming model with its Product Manager Yu Tong.
The revamped X9’s debut shows a strategic deepening of the Guangzhou-based carmaker’s dual-powertrain transition, following last November’s introduction of the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version of the model.
New Specs
The 2026 X9 will have the same measurements as the previous iteration, except for its length — 5,316 mm —, which will be 23 mm more than the 2025-model year.
Equipped with CALB-Tech’s 110 kWh ternary lithium battery packs, the refreshed MPV will deliver a maximum CLTC range of 750 kilometers.
According to XPeng, it serves as “the world’s longest-range pure-electric seven-seater.”
Comparatively, the 2025 version (second-generation) offered two battery pack options: 94.8 kWh and 105 kWh capacities, delivering CLTC ranges of up to 650 km and 740 km — 404 miles and 460 miles —, respectively.
Maintaining the 800V electrical architecture and 5C ultra-fast charging capability, the new model will be able to charge from 10% to 80% in 11.7 minutes and provide a driving range of 400 km (249 miles) after charging for eight minutes.
In the previous iteration, only the cheapest trim supported a 5C charging multiplier. The remaining variants offered a 3C charging function, achieving a 10-80% charge in 20 minutes.
X9 Sales
In January, XPeng sold 4,219 units of its X9 globally.
The figures represented a 413.9% surge compared to the first month of 2025, while declining 22.2% sequentially.
In its domestic market, the model deliveries stood at 3,971.
Apart from China, the fully electric version of the model is already available in Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore, as well as in Hong Kong & Macau.
The BEV X9 is set to arrive in Europe later this year, with a mid-year launch expected in the UK.
VLA 2.0 Launch
Alongside the Gen-3 X9 launch, XPeng will also introduce its second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA 2.0).
It is the automaker’s large-scale end-to-end autonomous driving (AV) solution, with Level 4 AV, aimed to deliver quicker reactions, better data processing, and “more human-like driving performance across complex real-world scenarios.”
In announcing the debut on Thursday, the company’s CEO He Xiaopeng wrote on Weibo that he had been “intensively testing” the upgraded technology and that it began being mass-produced.
“As [the] second-generation VLA enters the mass-production phase, our goal is to make advanced intelligent driving assistance a trusted standard feature for everyone,” Xiaopeng stated on the Chinese social media.
As reported by EV on Tuesday, XPeng secured Volkswagen as the first commercial customer for its VLA 2.0.
The milestone deal marked the first major Western carmaker to use Chinese-developed AV software.
Future Plans
Last month, XPeng said in an internal meeting, as first reported by the Chinese media outlet 36Kr, that it aims to double its exports to double this year from 2025’s result: 45,008 vehicles
The automaker is also targeting 1 million overseas sales by 2030 and expects those markets to generate over 70% of profits, according to the internal memo.
XPeng will expand its global workforce by 8,000 in 2026, with 5,000 positions filled through campus recruitment.
In Europe specifically, XPeng also plans to launch the first batch of its Mona series this year in Europe, as confirmed by the company’s founder and CEO He Xiaopeng, during last year’s IAA Auto Show in Munich.
