XPeng sold 7,500 vehicles in China between March 31 and April 6 becoming the best-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) startup as sales increased 21% from the last week of March.

After being surpassed in sales by Li Auto during the last three weeks of March, XPeng had outsold the hybrid-focused automaker by 1,300 units in the first week of April.

At a media event, the Guangzhou-based manufacturer unveiled the refreshed XPeng X9 MPV with a pre-sale price of 399,800 yuan, equivalent to $54,700.
The updated seat model is equipped with a standard 800V platform, delivering energy consumption as low as 16.2 kWh per 100 kilometers.

XPeng released last month updated versions of its G6 and G9 SUVs in China, both launching with lower starting prices than their first generation as it aims to refresh its lineup and maintain the competitivness of the portfolio in the world’s largest NEV market.

Also this Tuesday, XPeng started a global social media campaign targeting the refreshed Model Y while promoting its first-generation G6 SUV.

Called “Y Not” — a reference to Tesla’s Model Y — the campaign highlights three features: Apple CarPlay, self-parking, and what XPeng describes as “a luxury driving experience.”

The brand, which aims to double the number of markets to 60 this year, announced over the weekend it has officially launched in Poland, which became XPeng’s largest market in Eastern Europe.

As of the time of writing, XPeng‘s U.S.-listed shares are trading 1.50% lower at $17.50. Year to date, the stock is up 48% after registering a 270% surge since its founder and CEO He Xiaopeng increased his stake in August last year.
