Xpeng, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is set to commence deliveries of its smallest SUV, the G6, across Europe, with high expectations riding on its performance.
According to data from the EU-EVs platform, Xpeng sold 767 units in Norway in 2023. However, the company aims to quadruple this number in 2024 to 3,000 units and the smaller SUV will play a crucial role.
Xpeng‘s Managing Director in Norway Claes Persson set up a clear target of “quadrupling the sales in Norway in 2024 compared to 2023” while adding that the G6 SUV “will account for half of the sales”.

The model was introduced at the Social Human Equity (SHE) conference held in the Norwegian capital Oslo last weekend, Xpeng introduced the G6 model, a direct competitor with the world’s best selling car Tesla Model Y.
Persson emphasized that despite facing strong competition in the market, the company believes in its potential for growth, although it acknowledges that gaining a strong foothold will require patience.

According to EU-EVs data platform, Xpeng has registered 270 vehicles in Norway in the first quarter of year accounting for 1.2 percent of market share.
Last week, the company announced that its coupe SUV G6 will soon be available in all its European markets with the deliveries starting in the third quarter.
The G6 can be ordered from May and will be available at European Xpeng Stores later in the third quarter, the brand said in a statement. Xpeng is set to communicate prices and specifications by the end of this month.
A couple days after announcing the expansion to Spain and Portugal, the Chinese EV brand Xpeng revelead on Wednesday that signed a dealer partnership with Sime Darby Motors in Hong Kong and with Xin Kang Heng Holding in Macau.
Xpeng has been rapidly expanding its global footprint with the recent entrance in Germany, Spain, Portugal, and now Hong Kong plus Macau. The Guangzhou-based brand entered Europe via the Netherlands together with the Scandinavian countries Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
XPeng delivered 9,026 vehicles in March, nearly doubling (99%) compared to the previous month and a 29% increase year-over-year. In total, XPENG delivered 21,821 units in the first quarter of 2024, reflecting a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.
