XPeng‘s sales registered a 63% year over year jump in Sweden, with nearly 100 units sold in April, according to data released by Mobility Sweden on Friday.
The brand, which opened its first store in the Scandinavian country in early 2022, has steadily increased its sales each month since January, reaching a new record in April for 2025.
Compared to March, the Guangzhou-based company sold 8 additional units — a 9% increase. XPeng registered 301 units in the Swedish market year to date over the first four months of the year.
Nearly four out of five XPeng sales were G6 SUVs. The brand’s cheapest model, which is priced from 529,900 SEK ($55,000), represented a total of 76 vehicles sold in April.
The carmaker sold 22 G9 SUVs, its most expensive model yet in Sweden — prices begin at 719,900 SEK, equivalent to $74,700.
The company launched a refreshed version of the P7 sedan in China two years ago. In Sweden, prices start at 599,900 SEK ($62,200), and the company did not sell any units.
In the Netherlands, XPeng sold 105 units in April, a jump of 72.1% year over year and 20.7% from March.
The company delivered over 35,000 vehicles in April, soaring 273% year over year, and surpassing the 30,000 unit mark for the sixth consecutive month.
Competitors
The country’s best-selling model is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Volvo XC60 SUV, with over 2,000 units registered. Volkswagen‘s ID.7 is the best-selling EV in the country and the second best-selling model overall, with almost 1000 units.
Tesla’s sales sank 81% in April in Sweden, with 203 vehicles. A year earlier, the U.S. brand had recorded 1,052 EVs.
Polestar, backed by China’s Geely Holding Group but headquartered in Sweden, sold 535 vehicles in April, up 12% year over year.
BYD sold 50 vehicles in Sweden last month, compared to 118 in March. In the premium sector, Zeekr registered 82 vehicles, while its rival Nio’s registrations plunged 87% from March to April to just two units.
EV Adoption
In April, two out of three cars sold in Sweden were new energy vehicles (NEVs) — 9,283 from a total of 27,519 vehicles.
Battery electric vehicles (BEV) represented a 33.7% market share. The 9,328 hybrids, including plug-in hybrid vehicles, had a similar market share of 33.9%.
Expansion
XPeng made its European debut in 2021 through Norway and has since extended its presence to Germany, France, the UK, and several other markets. In March, it entered Poland, which has become its largest market in Eastern Europe.
In March, the company launched in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, and aimed to expand to Italy last month, according to VP Brian Gu. XPeng aims to double its presence to 60 markets by the end of this year.
Founder and CEO He Xiaopeng said earlier this year that he is “confident” about more than doubling last year’s delivery figures to 380,000 units this year. With April numbers, the brand has reached 34% of the guidance.
