XPeng Sales Reach 9,000 Weekly Units in China Ahead of P7 Unveil

XPeng sold 9,100 vehicles in the week of July 28 to August 3, up from 8,400 units in the final full week of July, according to industry data released on Tuesday.

The figures were the highest weekly total since the last week of June, when the brand recorded 11,200 units. Since then, weekly results have always been below 9,000 units.

Between January 1 and August 4, the brand founded and led by He Xiaopeng sold 214,400 vehicles in its domestic market.

Compared to other Chinese new energy vehicle brands, XPeng ranked sixth, while BYD took the lead with 60,900 fully electric and hybrid vehicles sold last week.

Stellantis-backed Leapmotor sold 10,200 vehicles, while Huawei‘s Aito listed 9,600 units. Li Auto sold 5,500 vehicles in China from July 28 to August 3.

In the premium sector, Nio and Zeekr registered 3,500 and 2,900 vehicles, respectively.

Nio Group‘s registrations surged to a 14-week high last week, driven by the initial deliveries of Onvo’s newly launched L90 SUV.

US brand Tesla was the third best-selling NEV brand in the country (after BYD and Geely‘s Galaxy) with 11,020 EVs sold last week — slightly up from the prior week’s 10,600 units.

XPeng delivered 36,717 vehicles in July, marking the ninth consecutive month above 30,000 units and a new all time record for the Guangzhou-headquartered brand.

The company also reached its 200,000th delivery of the year, and the 800,000th since its inception nearly 11 years ago.

The company launched this month the G7 SUV in China, with a starting price of 195,800 yuan ($27,300). Deliveries followed “shortly” after the launch.

XPeng is unveiling the revamped version of the P7 sedan on Wednesday (August 6). The model was spotted last week being shipped to showrooms across China as the debut nears.

The P7 model is expected to support both urban and highway Navigate on Pilot (NGP) functions along with other driver assistance features.

It is offered in a single-motor version with 270 kW of power, as well as a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant combining a 167 kW front motor with a 270 kW rear motor.

Pricing details have not yet been disclosed, but the new P7 is expected to compete in the 300,000 yuan ($41,800) range.

Earlier this Tuesday, XPeng announced it will report its second quarter earnings results on August 19.
