XPeng Reveals Specs of New GX SUV, Announces BEV and EREV Versions

Chinese automaker XPeng unveiled on Thursday the first images of its upcoming luxurious six-seat SUV — the GX.

The latest China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) catalogue, released on Friday, included several models set to debut in the country throughout the next weeks and months.

Among those is the new three-row SUV from the Guangzhou-headquartered brand, set to be launched “in the months ahead”, its founder and CEO He Xaopeng said on Thursday without disclsing a concrete date.

The catalogue revealed specifications of the upcoming GX model, including sizes and powertrain.

At the same time, XPeng released these details across its social media accounts, along with multiple new images.

GX Specs

Described as XPeng‘s “first AI new luxury large six-seat SUV”, the GX will measure 5,265 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height — with a wheelbase of 3,115 mm.

The company confirmed that the model will be available in both battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) versions.

The large SUV is built on an 800V platform paired with what the automaker calls a “5C ultra-fast charging AI battery,” enabling 10% to 80% charging in the mid-teens of minutes.

With dual-motor intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD), it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in around 4 seconds.

The model is equipped with the latest SEPA (Smart Electric Platform Architecture) 3.0 physical AI chassis, implementing steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering technologies.

The Chinese media outlet Cailian reported earlier on Friday that XPeng is currently testing Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities on the GX.

The three-row SUV will feature four in-house developed Turing chips, delivering 3,000 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second) of effective local computing power and supporting L4-level autonomous driving, according to the report.

While the brand hasn’t announced pricing yet, industry observers expect the GX to cost between 400,000 and 500,000 yuan — $57,700-$72,000.

Direct Rivals

The model will directly compete with premium rivals in China, such as the Zeekr 9X and the upcoming Nio ES9.

Launched last September, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV achieved a total of 30,000 deliveries on Wednesday.

The ES9 is planned to be launched in April and, at nearly 5,400 mm in length, it is set to become one of the largest SUVs in China.

The new Nio model will have an average selling price of above 500,000 yuan ($72,000), the management told Morgan Stanley last month.

In the same catalogue, Xiaomi‘s upcoming YU7 GT SUV appeared, ahead of its official launch in the next few months.

Additionally, the new Li Auto‘s L9 Livis extended-range electric (EREV) SUV and the Aito M6 SUV were also featured in MIIT’s new regulatory filing.

XPeng Sales

Last Sunday, XPeng announced that it delivered 20,011 vehicles globally in the first month of 2026.

The figures represented a 34.1% decrease compared to January 2025 — marking the largest sales drop among Chinese automakers.

This year, XPeng aims to sell between 550,000 and 600,000 units globally — a jump of between 28.1% to 39.7% compared to 2025.
