The latest catalog from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) revealed on Friday details of XPeng‘s refreshed version of its P7 sedan.
The brand released the first images of the updated sedan last week, with its domestic launch set for the third quarter.
The fully electric model will be priced within the 300,000 yuan ($41,700) range and is set to replace the current P7i — which was introduced in March 2023 in China.
As of Saturday, it is unclear whether XPeng will also launch an hybrid variant for the sedan — as planned for the X9 MPV.
The five-seater measures 5,017 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width and 1,427 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,008 mm. It has a curb weight of 2,125 kg and supports a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph).
The sedan will be available in three variants: two single-motor versions with a peak motor power of 270 kW, and a dual-motor model with a combined peak power of 167 kW.
The new P7 is powered by lithium iron phosphate and lithium-ion ternary batteries supplied by Eve Energy and CALB.
Earlier this week, XPeng said the new P7 features advanced driving assistance in both urban and highway scenarios without using LiDAR technology.
It also includes the brand’s in-house developed Turing chip for “enhanced computational power.”
The model was designed for global markets, as the brand aims to double its presence overseas to 60 markets in 2025. However, no timeline for an overseas launch has been revealed yet.
P7, P7i and P7+
The P7 was the brand’s first sedan, launched in 2020. Since then, the brand launched its sucessor P7i, which is currently selling for 249,900 yuan ($34,700) in China.
XPeng unveiled its P7+ model last November, calling it the “world’s first AI-defined vehicle.” It launched with prices starting at 186,800 yuan ($25,900).
The brand is working on an Ultra version, as an application filing suggested earlier this year. Last month, the automaker unveiled a new ultra-fast charging variant that features a 5C battery pack capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes.
When questioned about the difference between the recent P7+ and the upcoming P7, XPeng stated that the P7+ “prioritizes family-friendly attributes” while the new P7 “emphasizes advanced intelligence, performance, and a more personalized design.”
The brand’s lineup also includes the Mona M03 sedan, a more affordable, tech-based model that became its best-seller. It was launched last August, and a Max version was unveiled this week, set for official launch on May 28.
XPeng reported its first quarter earnings results this Wednesday, disclosing that revenue jumped 141% year over year to $2.19 billion while losses narrowed.
Speaking in the earnings conference call that followed the report, XPeng’s co-founder and CEO He Xiaopeng said that “in 2026, we can expect to see more models” from the Mona series.
