XPeng launched on Thursday updated versions of its G6 and G9 SUVs, both launching with lower starting prices than their first generation.
The G6 now starts at 176,800 yuan ($24,400), reflecting a 12% price reduction, while the G9 starts at 248,800 yuan ($34,300), a 6% drop. Seven minutes after the launch, the Guangzhou carmaker had secured over 5,000 orders for the new G6.
XPeng initially launched the first-generation G6 in June 2023, pricing it between 209,900 yuan and 276,900 yuan ($28,900-$38,140).
Both refreshed models come equipped with XPeng’s proprietary Turing AI Smart Driving System featuring 8MP front and rear cameras, dual Nvidia Orin intelligent driving chips, City and Highway Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP), remote parking, and an OTA-upgradable AI Valet function.
XPeng has also integrated a 5C ultra-fast charging AI battery, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes, or in 15 minutes and 20 seconds at -30°C. The models feature a dual-wishbone and five-link suspension system with HRS hydraulic damping for improved ride comfort.
The G6 and G9 also offer an 85.6% space utilization rate and a 1,752-liter expandable trunk. The cockpit includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating central control screen.
Earlier this week, a leaked poster suggested a starting price of 202,800 yuan ($28,140) for the long-range variant and 217,800 yuan ($30,000) for the ultra-long-range Max version.
XPeng delivered 30,453 vehicles in February, marking the fourth consecutive month of exceeding 30,000 units as it aims to double its sales figures in 2025. In the second quarter of the year, the company will continue to expand in Europe to several new markets.
