XPeng Launches in Italy With Refreshed G6 and G9 SUVs

XPeng said Tuesday it has officially entered Italy, marking its latest European expansion as Vice-Chairman and President Brian Gu meets with local governments and stakeholders.

The Guangzhou-based carmaker, which has been accelerating its European expansion over the last months, will partner with the local distributor Atflow.

According to local media outlet Fortuneita, Atflow also represents the British startup Ineos Automotive and the South Korean brand KGM.

Italy becomes the 16th European market where XPeng is present, with nine other set to join the list over the next few months.

The brand’s lineup in the Southern country will include its revamped G6 and G9 SUVs, which the company announced earlier this month would be coming to Europe with orders opening in “mid-July.”.

The new iterations were launched in March in the brand’s domestic market.

The earlier version of the G6 SUV is priced from €43,600 ($50,000) in Germany, while the more expensive G9’s prices start at €59,600 ($68,400).

Pricing details for the new iterations in the continent have not yet been revealed.

The launch coincided with the European visit of Brian Gu, vice-chairman and president of XPeng. The executive has also been in Spain.

“It was a pleasure to join Spanish government and industry leaders for an engaging tour and discussion on the potential of smarter and more sustainable mobility,” Gu stated on X this Wednesday.

According to data compiled by EV, XPeng 1,438 electric vehicles across ten European markets in May, a fourfold increase year over year driven by the brand’s expansion in the old continent.

After arriving in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands, the brand has expanded to eleven markets in the past twelve months. It includes countries like Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, the UK, Ireland, among others.

The Chinese carmaker announced its expansion to Poland in April. In May, the company said it is entering Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia through a new distribution agreement with Modus Group.

The Hungarian group AutoWallis said last month it will become the brand’s exclusive distributor in Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.

XPeng is launching the highly anticipated G7 SUV on June 26 (Thursday). The brand opened pre-orders for the model in China earlier this month, at a presale price of 235,800 yuan ($32,800).

The model is positioned to rival Tesla’s Model Y and Xiaomi’s upcoming YU7 — which will be launched on the same day.
