XPeng Hits 5,000 Deliveries in Denmark Two Years After Market Entry

Chinese carmaker XPeng said on Thursday it has delivered its 5,000th vehicle in Denmark, its third European market, which it entered in April 2022.

“Car number 5,000 has now been rolled out on Danish asphalt,” the Guangzhou-based company said in a LinkedIn post. “It took us exactly two years and a few days – but hey, who’s counting?”

The brand entered the Danish market with a direct sales approach and opened its first store in the country in early 2022. By then, the brand said it was combining direct stores with agency collaboration.

In late 2022, XPeng expanded its presence through strategic partnerships in Sweden and the Netherlands. It partnered with the Emil Frey Group and the Bilia Group, respectively, to establish local distribution, sales, and service networks.

XPeng has chosen to work with local distribution partners as it enters new markets. The Nordic group Hedin Mobility represents the automaker in countries such as Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, among others.

In late 2022, the brand signed an agreement with OmniCar, a Swedish technology solutions provider, which became responsible for vehicle servicing, repairs, and warranty support for all XPeng vehicles sold in the Danish market.

Denmark has a 63.8% EV adoption rate year to date, according to data from Mobility Denmark.

In June, 63.5% of the 19,046 vehicles sold were fully electric. Internal combustion engines accounted for less than 20% of the market.

Pure EV maker Tesla was the third best-selling brand, with 1,282 vehicles sold. Volkswagen ranked first with 2,966 units.

XPeng registered 183 vehicles in the country last month, a 30.7% increase from the same period a year ago. However, sales declined by 40.6% when compared to May.

The brand’s lineup includes the G6 and G9 SUVs, which had their prices cut recently.

Prices for the G6 start from 299,900 DKK ($47,250), down by 40,000 DKK ($6,300). The more expensive G9 is priced from 451,916 DKK ($71,200), about 47,000 DKK below its original price.

Inventory units of the two models are available in the brand’s website, with discounted prices as well.

XPeng is preparing to start delivering the refreshed iterations of the G6 and G9, which were launched earlier this year in China, in a few weeks.

In Italy, where the automaker launched last week, the portfolio already includes the most recent versions of the SUVs.

XPeng also has the P7 sedan in its Danish portfolio — however, it is not possible to configure the model and there are no inventory units available for purchase.

The brand set new monthly records across its European markets last month. In the UK, it sold 114 vehicles, the highest number since it launched in the market four months ago.

In Germany, it also set a new high with 240 vehicles last month. In the Nordics, the carmaker sold 346 units in Norway and 72 vehicles in Sweden. Registrations fell to 67 units in the Netherlands.

XPeng launched on Thursday the highly anticipated G7 SUV in its domestic market, priced between 195,800 yuan and 225,800 yuan ($27,300–$31,500).

No timeline was set for the arrival of the model in overseas markets.
