Electric vehicle maker XPeng was awarded on Wednesday a five-star rating on the EuroNCAP Safety tests for its smallest SUV G6. The model, which has recently arrived in the European and African markets after being launched in China in June 2023,
The results of the Euro NCAP tests are split across four categories including Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road Users, and Safety Assist.
With the exception of the safety assist category, the model exceeded the results achieved by the previous vehicles tested, the G9 SUV and the P7 sedan.

In the adult occupant category, the Xpeng G6 got a safety rating of 88 per cent while Child occupancy scored 85 per cent in the crash test. Regarding the safety of road users, the SUV scored 81 per cent and the Safety Assist system 75 per cent.
Commenting on the results, the brand’s Vice Chairman and President, Brian Gu, says the results “demonstrate not only the superior safety credentials of XPeng vehicles, but also our company’s continued dedication to building vehicles that prioritize safety.”
Regarding battery safety, the Guangzhou-based EV maker said it is “equally prioritized” to ensure the highest level of protection for the vehicle’s power source.
