Xpeng delivers 9,393 vehicles in April, Up 33% Year on Year

China’s manufacturer Xpeng delivered 9,393 vehicles in April, of which 1,959 were Xpeng’s recently launched fully electric MPV X9. The April figures represent a 33 percent increase year-on-year and a sequential growth of 4 percent.

Cumulative deliveries of the Xpeng X9 reached nearly 10,000 units while year to date deliveries of the brand reached 31,214 vehicles, a 23 percent increase year-on-year.

Xpeng announced recently on its Weibo account a temporary car purchase subsidy amounting to 500 million yuan ($70.4 million), accessible until May 5. This subsidy applies to four models including Xpeng G9, G6, P7i, and the 2024 Xpeng P5.

At the Beijing Auto Show, the brand showcased its latest AI-powered innovations, including the operative system XOS 5.1.0 (Tianji OS). The new version integrates AI into both smart cockpits and smart driving with release scheduled for May 20.

Chief executive of Xpeng, He Xiaopeng, has recently reacted to the developments of Tesla’s advanced assisted driving software Full Self Driving in China. The CEO predicts that the new decade will be focused on smart cars adding that Tesla has “very good autonomous driving technology”.

Last week, the manufacturer reported the expansion of its partnership with the Volkswagen Group to jointly develop E/E Architecture for the German EV platform for China. Implementation is expected to start in 2026 across Volkswagen’s electric vehicles manufactured in the country.
