Electric vehicle maker XPeng said Sunday it delivered 14,036 units in August representing the best month of the year and the sixth consecutive month of sequential growth.

Year to date deliveries from the Guangzhou-based manufacturer are up 17 per cent.

After ending last year with three consecutive months with over 20,000 units delivered, this year started weaker than expected. However, the launch of the Mona M03 and expansion into several new markets by the end of the year are expected to help the brand surpass the 20,000 milestone again later this year.

As reported on Saturday, the delivery wait time for XPeng’s latest model has extended from 3-5 weeks to 5-7 weeks as the company secures over 50 thousand orders since the event took place last Tuesday.

At the launch event held in Beijing last week, XPeng chief executive He Xiaopeng claimed the Max version of the MONA M03 is the world’s first mass-produced vehicle to offer high-level ADAS functionality for under 200,000 yuan ($28,200).

The founder and chief executive, He Xiaopeng, delivered the first units of the model on the inaugural day of the Chengdu Auto Show earlier this week.
