XPeng completed test production of its upcoming P7+ sedan at Magna Steyr’s plant in Austria, marking a key milestone as the Chinese automaker prepares to launch five new models in Europe throughout 2026.
“Test production is complete,” XPeng wrote on LinkedIn Monday, calling it “a major milestone.”
“Sino–Austrian teams are now moving into the next phase, with a clear focus on precision, quality, and delivery excellence,” the company added.
XPeng signed an agreement with Magna’s Austrian subsidiary last December to assemble two fully electric models at the Graz facility.
The Guangzhou-based automaker ships parts from China for assembly in Austria, allowing it to avoid additional duties on Chinese-imported EVs imposed by the European Commission in October 2024.
Global Launch
As exclusively reported by EV last month, XPeng will globally launch the new P7+ on January 8, with the rollout spanning 36 markets simultaneously.
European pricing will be revealed the following day at the brand’s press conference at the Brussels Auto Show.
A company spokesperson told EV in December that pricing for the Chinese market, including both powertrains, will be announced at the January 8 event.
Details shared by XPeng indicate that the rollout will focus primarily on Asia and Europe. There is currently no information about whether the hybrid version will be offered in Europe.
New Specifications
The updated P7+ will be available in both battery electric and extended-range versions, as XPeng recently began production of hybrid models.
“The pure electric version is upgraded with the ‘857’ standard: a full 800V platform, full-range 5C ultra-fast AI battery, and a CLTC range of up to 725 km,” the company stated.
The extended-range version offers a CLTC pure electric range of 430 km — which XPeng claims makes it the “world’s longest-range pure electric extended-range coupe.” Combined range, including both electric and fuel, totals 1,550 km.
The new P7+ features a redesigned exterior with a “Star-Wing” full-width light strip and “Star-Trail” full-width taillights. It comes equipped with an active air intake grille and 20-inch sport wheels.
Inside, the sedan offers upgraded ambient lighting with “256-color seamless adjustment,” an 8.8-inch instrument panel, and a 29-inch head-up display.
The model was designed under Spanish Design VP Juan Ma Lopez, who was appointed in mid-2024 after serving at Ferrari, Genesis, Audi, and Lamborghini.
European Expansion
Besides the P7+, XPeng will launch its X9 MPV in Europe in the coming months. The model will be available in fully electric and extended-range variants.
XPeng founder and CEO He Xiaopeng confirmed last September that the company will also bring its Mona series to Europe.
The first model under the lower-priced series, the Mona M03 sedan, launched in August 2024 and quickly became the brand’s best-selling model.
An SUV under the Mona series has been spotted road-testing multiple times in China.
Current P7+ Performance
The current P7+ is priced from 186,800 yuan ($26,580) in China. XPeng calls it the “world’s first AI-defined vehicle.”
Launched in November 2024, monthly deliveries quickly jumped to a record 10,000 units in December 2024 before falling to between 6,000 and 8,600 vehicles in the first half of 2025.
Since then, monthly deliveries have hovered around 5,000 units, hitting a low of 4,870 vehicles in November. December figures were not yet released as of press time.
The P7+ remains XPeng‘s third best-selling model, after the Mona M03 sedan and G6 SUV.
