XPeng Claims to Become Only Brand Offering ‘Human Machine Co-Driving’ in Europe

XPeng began rolling out a new software update on Monday, featuring improvements to assisted driving, entertainment, and the introduction of a “Pet Mode,” which the company described as its third major upgrade of 2025.

The Guangzhou-headquartered carmaker describes the XOS 5.8.0 version as a “thoughtfully localized, insight-driven integration of XPeng’s core strengths in intelligent driving and smart cabin technologies, delivering a truly elevated experience for our users worldwide.”

XPeng claimed that it is now “the first and only automaker” to offer “standard Human-Machine Co-Driving” on the Old Continent.

According to the carmaker, when the Lane Centering Control (LCC) is active, the system doesn’t disengage when the driver steers and now remains active and shares control with the driver.

The brand claims that results in “smoother, more natural driving assistance.”

XPeng also says the new update improves both LCC and the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with more comfortable deceleration, improved in higher cornering speeds.

“LCC also demonstrates improved performance in complex scenarios such as highway merges and exits, with reduced steering oscillation,” according to the company.

The company claims it reduced the delayed response in emergency avoidance scenarios while eliminating “the ‘intrusive feel’ of traditional LCC.”

Version 5.8.0 adds a Pet Mode to G6/G9 and X9 models that automatically closes the windows, locks the doors, and keeps the cabin at a comfortable temperature with air circulation.

The new update also brings a karaoke feature via an app available in the in-car app store and a “smarter and more personalized charging experience.”

XPeng has expanded the Dashcam function to more European countries and added Emergency Recording.

The Chinese automaker said last Friday that it will roll out a safety-related over the air update to both its recently launched models, the G7 SUV and the refreshed P7 sedan.

The Guangzhou-based company is introducing a Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model that can predict and help prevent pedestrian accidents in blind spots and adapt to road conditions.

According to He Xiaopeng, the P7 became XPeng‘s most pre-ordered vehicle since it arrived in the EV segment 11 years ago.
