Electric carmaker XPeng announced on Friday that it has produced 50,000 units of its record-breaking Mona M03 sedan. Just four months after beginning mass production, the company stated on social media that the model has achieved the fastest production ramp-up “among emerging pure-electric carmakers.”
“In 4 months since its launch, a total of 50,000 units have rolled off the production line, continuously breaking the record for the fastest production speed among emerging pure-electric carmakers,” the carmaker wrote on Weibo.
At its current production pace, XPeng takes just over one minute to produce a Mona M03 sedan.
“Currently, the factory has ramped up production to its maximum capacity, achieving an average of one XPeng MONA rolling off the line every 72 seconds. With full force ahead, the goal is to deliver the cars to every XPeng fan as soon as possible,” the carmaker added.
The company’s founder and CEO Xiaopeng He said earlier this month that the monthly production capacity for the model will reach 20,000 units by the Chinese New Year, which takes place between January 28 and February 4.
At the Auto Show, the chief executive said that the M03 sedan is designed for younger drivers, with more than 50% of its users under the age of 30. The model starts at 119,800 yuan ($16,575), while the “Max” variant is priced at 155,800 yuan, equivalent to $21,550.
