Electric carmaker XPeng shared on Thursday the first images of its new fully electric SUV, the G7. The model, expected to be priced at around 250,000 yuan ($34,100), has been spotted in road testing in China over the last weeks.
A few hours after images of Tesla’s Model Y undergoing winter testing in China were leaked, the company confirmed on Weibo that it is developing a new model aimed at competing with the world’s best-selling car.
The G7, which will be positioned between XPeng’s entry-level SUV G6 and its family-oriented G9, aims to be “the most competitive SUV in the 250,000 yuan class this year,” the company’s vice president Yu Tao wrote on Weibo.

“The model looks great, is loaded with AI technology, and remains a space monster, making it definitely a top choice for family users,” the executive stated.
XPeng’s new model features a design language similar to the recently launched flagship sedan XPeng P7+, with split headlights, and an arc-shaped full-width LED light strip on the upper section.

The company signed, earlier this week, a memorandum of understanding with Volkswagen Group China to jointly build more than 20,000 chargers creating “one of the largest super-fast charging networks in China.”
The charging network will be co-operated by both companies, though they have not disclosed a timeline for achieving the 20,000-pile target. In 2023, Volkswagen Group announced it had acquired a 4.99% stake in the Chinese EV maker.
