Xiaomi‘s upcoming YU7 GT SUV has appeared in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) catalogue, ahead of the official launch planned for the upcoming months.
The first images of the performance variant show a blacked-out design and a dual-motor powertrain producing a combined 738 kW (989 hp) with a top speed of 300 km/h.
The YU7 GT features a 288 kW front motor paired with a 450 kW rear motor, supplied by Suzhou Inovance Automotive and Xiaomi‘s Auto Technology unit.
The filing, published on Thursday as part of the ministry’s 404th batch of vehicle announcements, confirms the GT variant as a high-performance version of the standard YU7 SUV that Xiaomi is preparing to launch its first extended range SUVs later this year.
Two top speed variants are listed at 300 km/h and 270 km/h, suggesting different performance configurations may be offered.
Specifications
The SUV measures 5,015 mm in length, 2,007 mm in width, and 1,597 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. Curb weight is listed at 2,460 kg, with a gross vehicle weight of 2,910 kg.
The five-seat SUV is powered by a ternary lithium-ion battery pack.
Battery cells are supplied by Jiangsu CATL New Energy Technology, with the battery pack assembled by Zhongzhou CATL New Energy Technology — both subsidiaries of the world’s largest EV battery maker CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology).
Blacked-Out Design
Images from the filing show the YU7 GT in an aggressive all-black exterior treatment.
However, it remains unknown how many exterior colours the brand will announce.
The first image reveals extensive customization options including multiple front badge designs featuring the Xiaomi “mi” logo in various finishes, several wheel designs with red brake calipers, and brake caliper color options in red, purple, blue, green, and yellow.
Lightning bolt graphics appear as optional decals, along with blacked-out rear spoilers, side mirrors, and ducktail rear wings. The rear view shows the new “YU7 GT” badging.
Xiaomi’s Second Vehicle
The YU7 represents Xiaomi‘s second vehicle after the SU7 sedan, which launched in March 2024.
The YU7 SUV, which debuted in China mid last year, was launched in three versions: Standard (ultra-long-range RWD version at yuan 253,500) Pro (ultra-long-range AWD version at 279,900 yuan), and Max — ultra-long-range high-performance AWD version at 329,900 yuan.
YU7 Spotted in the US
Separately, a standard YU7 was spotted on Wednesday on Interstate 5 in Illinois, in what almost certainly belongs to the testing fleet of US electric vehicle maker Rivian.
The “132” manufacturer plate displayed on the YU7 Max fueled speculation that the mid-size crossover is owned by Rivian for competitive benchmarking and reverse engineering purposes.
According to Carscoops, the “132” prefix has previously appeared on confirmed Rivian test vehicles.
