Xiaomi will officially launch the Ultra version of its SU7 sedan on October 29, according to an announcement by the company’s CEO Lei Jun on Thursday.
On X, Jun wrote, “Get ready! I’ll be live tweeting on October 29 about our new Xiaomi HyperOS 2 and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. Can’t wait to share our latest performance sedan with you”.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is based on the earlier SU7 prototype but loses some of the more aggressive racing elements seen in the concept model. Here’s a video of the prototype shared by Xiaomi last July.
The teaser image shared by the chief executive reveals that the vehicle will retain a rear spoiler and feature a LiDAR system instead of a camera-based solution for Automated Driving (AD) capabilities.

The prototype shown a few months ago had a top speed of over 350 km/h and did from 0 to 60mph in 1.97 seconds.
From 0 to 200 km/h, the Ultra version needed 5.96 seconds hitting 300 km/h in 15.07 seconds.
The prototype was equipped with a specialized track braking system, including AP brake calipers and racing-grade brake discs, enabling the vehicle to brake from 100 km/h to a stop in just 25 meters.
However, the configuration for the production version will only be revealed at the launch next Tuesday, October 29.
Xiaomi will complete the expansion of its EV manufacturing plant by mid-2025, local media reported on Wednesday.
The company plans to build its vehicle manufacturing plants in two phases with each one of them targeting an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. Construction of the second plant began last month and is expected to be completed in June 2025.

Xiaomi deliveries surpassed (again) 10,000 deliveries in September as it aims to reach 120,000 deliveries this year. For October, Jun said the company is targeting 20,000 units delivered.
