Xiaomi to Launch YU7 SUV on June 26, CEO Says

Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun said on Monday that the company’s second car model, the YU7 SUV, will be officially unveiled and launched this Thursday, June 26.

“The highly anticipated Xiaomi YU7, Xiaomi’s first SUV, will be officially unveiled at 7:00 p.m. on June 26 (this Thursday),” Lei wrote on Weibo.

The YU7 will come standard across all trims with features including LiDAR, a panoramic display with a horizon screen, and 135-degree adjustable electric rear seats.

“There will be quite a few new products this time, and the event will be relatively long, so please be prepared in advance,” Lei added, confirming the company will also launch the compact foldable phone Xiaomi Flip2, the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, and what he described as a “personal smart device for the next era.”

Last month, Lei said the YU7 offers 50,000 to 60,000 yuan ($7,000 to $8,000) more value than Tesla’s Model Y.

The SUV delivers up to 690 PS (508 kW) of maximum power, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, and has a top speed of 253 km/h.

It uses an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform with a peak voltage of 897V. According to the company, the maximum charging rate reaches 5.2C, enabling a charge from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes and adding 620 km of range in 15 minutes.

The YU7 will be available in nine colors spanning sports, fashion, luxury and classic schemes.

On Monday, Xiaomi revealed “Dawn Pink” — a pink base coat layered with light gold metallic particles — as the fifth fashion color variant.

“The design inspiration comes from the golden sunlight on mountain peaks at dawn,” Lei said on Weibo.

In China, Xiaomi’s car registrations rose 28% in the second full week of June to 5,600 units. From Jan. 1 to June 15, the company sold 142,700 units of its SU7 sedan, which starts at 299,900 yuan ($41,800), with the Ultra version priced from 529,900 yuan ($73,800).
