The smartphone giant Xiaomi announced Friday it delivered over 20,000 electric vehicles in October, seven months after starting mass-producing its first model, the SU7. Led by Lei Jun, the company aims to surpass 100,000 cumulative deliveries in November.

On October 1, the company announced a production and delivery target of 20,000 units for the month, following four consecutive months of delivering over 10,000 units each.

This year, Xiaomi aims to deliver 120,000 EVs —up from the previous target of 100,000 units.

Earlier this week, Xiaomi officially launched the Ultra version of its SU7 sedan. The 814,900 yuan ($114,000) model was described as “a four-door sports car with genuine racing DNA.”

A prototype of the model set a new record at Germany’s Nürburgring, completing a lap in 6 minutes and 46.874 seconds, beating the previous record held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.

Shortly after the event, the company announced on Weibo that it received 3,680 orders within the first ten minutes of the launch, representing a potential revenue of $419.5 million.

Over the last few months, the brand led by Lei Jun has not been disclosing the exact number of cars delivered.

The company started the double shifts at its car factory in early June as it increased the annual production target from 100,000 to 120 thousand units.
