The smartphone giant Xiaomi announced Sunday that has delivered over 10,000 vehicles for the third consecutive month without specifying the concrete number of units.
Over the last few months, the brand led by Lei Jun has not been disclosing the exact number of cars delivered. However, in the second quarter earnings results, the company informed that it delivered 27,307 vehicles from April to June resulting in a revenue of 6.2 billion yuan — equivalent to $871 million.
The company started the double shifts at its car factory in early June as it increased the annual production target from 100 thousand to 120 thousand units.
Never Miss an Update on Xiaomi
At the earnings conference call that followed the results, Xiaomi’s President Lu Weibing reiterated the target saying he is “confident” the company will deliver 120,000 units this year.
Last March, shortly after the SU7 launch event, Jun noted that the sales volume exceeded expectations by “three to five times,” presenting both a boost and a challenge.
Xiaomi CEO says the great demand is also a “headache” despite enhancing that the “partners are relatively strong” and that “the [production] ramp up has been very fast”.
