Xiaomi Crosses 79,000 Deliveries in Q1 as Gen 2 SU7 Rollout Begins

Xiaomi said on Wednesday that its March deliveries “exceeded 20,000” units, with the second-generation SU7 sedan accounting for “over 7,000” of the total.

It is still unclear whether March deliveries surpassed February’s total of 20,414 units or the 29,244 vehicles delivered in March 2025.

The company does not disclose precise monthly delivery figures, instead reporting rounded estimates.

Exact data is released later by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), while Xiaomi provides confirmed totals in its quarterly earnings reports.

After debuting its EV unit with the SU7 model in 2024, the Chinese tech giant launched the YU7 SUV last Summer.

The model set an industry record last July, with between 240,000 and 300,000 “locked-in” orders in just 18 hours.

With demand significantly outpacing production, delivery waiting times for both models reached up to 52 weeks last year.

Delivery Figures

The brand delivered “over 39,000” in January and saw registrations plunge to just “more than 20,000” vehicles in February, as production and sales were both disrupted by a longer-than-usual Chinese New Year Holiday.

Data from CPCA in the first two months of the year shows that 59,416 Xiaomi EVs were sold in China.

Combined deliveries for the first quarter exceed 79,000 vehicles.

The figures mark a modest increase from the 75,869 vehicles delivered in the same period a year earlier.

The quarterly total represents a slowdown after Xiaomi reported two consecutive quarters with deliveries surpassing 100,000 units.

Last year, Xiaomi delivered 410,000 vehicles in its domestic market.

The company now aims to deliver 550,000 vehicles in 2026, representing approximately 34% growth.

Considering the estimates revealed in the first three months of the year, Xiaomi achieved — at least — 14.3% of the target as of March 31.

Purchase Incentives

Xiaomi released updated purchase incentives for its existing EV lineup in the beginning of March.

The YU7 SUV was available with seven‑year low‑interest financing, a down payment of 99,900 yuan, and an optional three‑year zero‑interest plan.

Meanwhile, the SU7 Ultra is being offered with a benefits package worth up to 49,000 yuan, including complimentary dual zero‑gravity front seats and same‑day delivery on available stock.

Second-Gen SU7

Xiaomi’s first production vehicle — the SU7 sedan — was launched in late March 2024. The model has since surpassed 380,000 cumulative deliveries.

The second‑generation SU7 opened for pre‑orders on January 7, with a listed starting price of 229,900 yuan (about $33,300).

Having initially planned for an April rollout, Xiaomi launched the revamped model on March 19.

The launch price was 10,000 yuan lower than the pre‑order price, settling at 219,900 ($31,900) — just 4,000 yuan above the previous iteration.

Co-founder and CEO Lei Jun said the updated SU7 includes over 100 upgrades, absorbing approximately 20,000 yuan in added material costs per unit.

The new SU7 secured 15,000 locked orders within 34 minutes of launch and exceeded 30,000 locked orders in four days, March 23 — when deliveries began — with the Max variant accounting for more than 25% of sales.

Xiaomi accelerated pre‑production by two months to minimize wait times experienced by early buyers of the first‑generation model.

Ready‑stock units were offered with delivery windows as short as one week, and test drives began at 492 stores in 143 Chinese cities.

Locked‑order customers were also given a limited reconfiguration window without affecting delivery dates.

Upcoming Models

Local media outlet 36Kr reported late last year that Xiaomi planned to debut four models in 2026, including a new iteration of the fully electric SU7 sedan, to launch in April, and an executive version of the model, the SU7L.

Before this new variant, the company launched the SU7 Ultra a year ago.

The upcoming SU7L sedan — with a longer wheelbase — and the YU8 and YU9 extended-range electric SUVs have been recently spotted in China.

According to the 36Kr report, the two SUVs will feature five- and seven-seat configurations, respectively, with the latter set to debut in the first half of the year.

On Tuesday, an undisguised Xiaomi YU7 GT was spotted undergoing testing at Germany’s Nürburgring track, suggesting a potential upcoming launch.

EV and AI Unit Profit

On March 24, Xiaomi published its 2025 earnings results, with group revenue rising 25% to 457.3 billion yuan and adjusted net profit up 43.8% to 39.2 billion yuan.

The “Smart EV, AI and Other New Initiatives” segment saw revenue surge 223.8% to 106.1 billion yuan — recording its first full‑year operating profit of 900 million yuan.

Management signaled that 2026 automotive margins may not exceed 2025 levels, citing the rollback of purchase‑tax subsidies — which could raise costs — and intensifying competition in premium sedan and large SUV segments.
