Waymo, formerly the Google self-driving car project, announced on Tuesday that its Waymo One service is now available to everyone in San Francisco.
The company has recently surpassed 50,000 weekly rides across Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.Effective immediately, residents and visitors can hail a fully autonomous Waymo ride via the company’s app, the company said in a new blog post.
The California based company exclusively utilizes Jaguar I-PACE electric vehicles, and the company does not reveal the size of its fleet.
In early April, Waymo partnered with Uber Eats to deliver food across neighborhoods in Phoenix, including Chandler, Mesa, and Tempe. This option, which does not incur any additional fees for customers, can be cheaper than the standard delivery person option, according to the companies.
Waymo has already facilitated tens of thousands of trips on Uber using its autonomous driving technology. Besides Phoenix, Waymo’s ride-hailing service is available in parts of Los Angeles and San Francisco.
