Tesla’s new car registrations fell sharply in several European markets in February, according to data released by local automotive associations on Monday.

In Sweden, Tesla registered 613 new vehicles, a 42% decline from a year earlier. Registrations in Norway and Denmark each fell 48%, with 917 and 509 units, respectively. Registrations in France fell 26% from a year ago to 2,395 units.

The results come as the company started deliveries of the refreshed Model Y in China last week and in the United States on Sunday, as reported earlier today. The five-seat SUV is Tesla’s top-selling model and it was the world’s best-selling car in 2024, with 1.09 million units sold.

Deliveries are expected to begin between May and June, varying by market and configuration. Until then, Tesla’s registrations in Europe are likely to remain below last year’s levels, with demand anticipated to pick up in the second half of 2025.

In the Netherlands, Tesla registrations dropped 24% year-on-year to 983 vehicles, though they rose 6% from January. Overall, the Dutch market for fully electric cars grew 22.4% year-on-year to 10,174 units, according to industry group BOVAG.

Registration figures for Germany and the UK have not yet been published.

Tesla has recently discontinued sales of the limited-edition “Launch Series” Model Y in several European countries, replacing it with a standard lineup. The updated Model Y range includes Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (LR RWD), and Long Range All-Wheel Drive (LR AWD).
