Tesla Website Code shows the company is getting ready to start accepting the cryptocurrency DogeCoin as a Payment, as said by Elon Musk last December. The mention comes with the command “setPaymentType,” confirming that Tesla’s planned move to accept Dogecoin for some things may be imminent.
Tesla chief Elon Musk said on December 14th, 2021, the electric carmaker will accept Dogecoin as payment for merchandise on a test basis, sending the meme-based cryptocurrency up over 20%. “Tesla will make some merch buyable with Doge & see how it goes,” Musk said in a tweet.
Musk’s tweets on the cryptocurrency, including the one where he called it the “people’s crypto,” have helped the meme coin soar 5,859% over the past year, according to data from Coinbase website.
Musk did not specify what merchandise, whose prices start from US$50 and go as high as US$1,900, could be bought with Dogecoin.
