Tesla’s Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, hinted at potential updates for the Model S and Model X during an appearance on the Ride the Lightning podcast.
When asked whether any changes were coming for the flagship models, Moravy responded, “Just give it a minute, we’ll get there.”
Tesla last refreshed the Model S and Model X in early 2021, introducing slight exterior changes and a significantly improved interior. The update added retractable cupholders, deep front-door storage pockets, a second-row touchscreen infotainment display, and a redesigned center console with an armrest, cupholders, and wireless device charging.
Moravy also discussed Tesla’s second-generation Roadster, saying, “What we had come up with exceeded what we originally planned, and so Elon was like, ‘Wow, great! Let’s do more!’” The executive added that Elon pushed the team “to go one step further” as the team realized it “could do better than we thought.”
Moravy joined Tesla in February 2010 as a Senior Design & Development Engineer for chassis design. He was promoted to Vice President of Vehicle Engineering in 2019 after holding five different roles within the department.
Tesla Model Y
Earlier this week, Tesla stopped selling the limited-edition “Launch Series” Model Y in several European markets, shifting to a standard lineup, according to the company’s website.
Customers can now choose from three updated Model Y variants: Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (LR RWD), and Long Range All-Wheel Drive (LR AWD). Deliveries are expected between May and June, depending on the market and configuration.
