Tesla is gearing up to unveil the highly anticipated Model Y refresh early next year with the new 7-seater version of the world’s best-selling model expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter, China’s media outlet LatePost reported on Thursday.

Codenamed “Juniper,” the five-seater version is expected to be delivered in the first quarter while the seven-seater, which will likely have a 2-3-2 three-row layout, is planned for the last quarter of 2025.

The changes in the refreshed Model Y are expected to be similar to those in the updated Model 3, including slight adjustments to the overall exterior design and dimensions, as well as updates to the interior, autonomous driving hardware, and battery pack capacity, the outlet noted.

Never Miss an Update on Tesla

Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has recently asked the company’s influencers to stop sharing pictures of the 2025 Model Y on his platform X as it could affect sales of the current version.

Last year, sales of the Tesla Model Y totaled 1.22 million units globally, up by 64% from 2022, outselling traditional global top-sellers like Toyota’s RAV4 and Corolla sedan. Toyota placed two more models in the top 10, while the Tesla Model 3 secured the 10th position.

As reported earlier today, Tesla has been preparing for the launch of its Semi truck in Europe and the first test drives are scheduled for the IAA event which will be held in Hannover, Germany, from September 17th until the 22nd.
