Tesla Teases October 7 Unveiling With Cryptic Turbine Video [Video]

Tesla posted a nine-second video on X on Sunday teasing an unveiling set for Tuesday, October 7, sparking speculation about the company’s next major product reveal.

The short clip shows a close-up of a metallic, turbine-like object spinning rapidly with the Tesla logo at its center.

Its cryptic nature has immediately prompted debate among Tesla investors and enthusiasts on X, with theories ranging from the cheaper Model Y variant to the long-delayed next-generation Roadster or even drones.

“Ok that audio brings a new dimension… Options are — [Tesla] Roadster, cooling fan for AI compute cluster, or Model Y wheel,” X user TechAu wrote in a post reacting to the teaser.

Elon Musk has repeatedly teased new details about the Roadster, originally unveiled in 2017 but repeatedly delayed.

In early 2024, the Tesla CEO confirmed the model would accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than a second, with help from SpaceX technology.

In June of that year, Musk claimed the “new Tesla Roadster can fly,” without elaborating on the extent of its airborne capability.

In February 2024, Musk said the car’s “production design [is] complete” and that Tesla planned to “unveil [it at the] end of year,” while “aiming to ship next year,” referring to 2025.

Separately, new photos of a refreshed Model Y surfaced online last week after the vehicle was spotted uncovered at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas — the first time the redesigned crossover has been seen in full.

The update is aimed at lowering production costs and increasing demand, allowing the company to fight in the $25,000-$30,000 market segment.

Some X users have also speculated that the teaser could hint at Tesla’s entry into the drone or vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) space — a topic Musk has alluded to in past posts.

“We better figure out how to build drones at scale fast or we are doomed to be a vassal state,” Musk wrote last July on X.

In another post on July 1, he added, “Drones are the future of warfare. Manned aircraft are not.”

Morgan Stanley has recently estimated that drones and eVTOL aircraft together represent a potential $9 trillion total addressable market.
