Tesla registered 819 electric vehicles in Spain during the first 12 days of March, positioning it to surpass February’s total before mid-month, data from Spain’s General Directorate of Traffic showed.

Renault ranked second in EV sales with 206 fully electric vehicles sold, while Kia followed with 182 units.

With more nearly three weeks left in March, Tesla is on track to increase sales when compared to March 2024, when it registered 1,458 units.

Last month, Tesla sold 918 vehicles in Spain, securing a 1% overall market share and 15.0% of the battery electric vehicle (BEV) market.

In February, 42% of Tesla’s deliveries in Spain were Model Y, while 57% were Model 3. With the phase-out of the previous-generation Model Y, Tesla is now selling only Model Y SUVs from inventory and demo stock.

Tesla’s registrations across Europe and other markets declined in the first two months of the year compared to 2024 levels, with sales expected to rebound as production of the updated Model Y ramps up.

The five-seat SUV remains Tesla’s best-selling model and was the world’s top-selling car in 2024, with 1.09 million units delivered.

Despite a 10% decline from February 2023, Tesla recorded its second-best February in Spain. Year-to-date sales at the end of February were down 44% from the same period last year.

In the UK, Tesla’s year-to-date registrations rose 67%, with 3,852 units registered in February, a 21% increase from a year earlier.

In Germany, registrations fell 76% year over year to 1,429 units in February. Tesla registered 613 vehicles in Sweden last month, down 42% from a year earlier, while registrations in Norway and Denmark each dropped 48% to 917 and 509 units, respectively. France saw a 26% decline to 2,395 units.

Tesla began deliveries of the refreshed Model Y in China on February 26 and in the United States last weekend.

Tesla shares are trading 0.3% higher on Thursday at $249. The stock has fallen sharply in the last few weeks after having surged late last year on Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. Presidential election.
