Tesla Records Third-Best Sales Week of 2025 in China

Tesla sales in China jumped 79.5% to 15,500 vehicles between June 9 and 15, setting a new sales record in the second quarter, according to industry data shared on Tuesday.

The week of June 9–15 was also the brand’s third-best week so far this year, behind only the last two weeks of the first quarter, when Tesla registered 17,000 and 20,600 units, respectively.

Year over year, sales rose 32.5%.

The figures were mainly driven by the brand’s refreshed Model Y, which accounted for 11,210 of the total vehicles sold last week.

Year to date sales in the world’s biggest car market were down 6.7% when compared to a year ago.

The brand’s lineup in China includes the Model 3, the Model Y, the Model S and the Model X. The two latter are only available as inventory units, after the company halted imports of the U.S.-made models.

Both Model Y and Model 3 customers can take advantage of a 0% interest financing option available for terms ranging from 1 to 5 years. The offers are only valid for customers taking delivery before the end of June.

In an effort to increase demand by the end of the quarter, Tesla China is also offering discounts on the customization of the vehicle for customers placing orders through recommendation.

The Pearl White, Glacier Blue, Diamond Black and Deep Sea Blue are free, while the Quicksilver and Blazing Red are offered for 4,000 yuan ($560), according to the company on Weibo.

Competitors

Last week, most automakers registered a slight increase in sales. However, Tesla‘s increase was notable, solidifying its position as the top seller when it comes to only battery electric vehicles (BEV).

The U.S. brand is the second best-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) brand in the country — after BYD, which registered 70,300 hybrid and fully electric models from June 9 to 15 (up 28% from the prior week).

It is followed by Leapmotor, which sold the same amount of vehicles in the past two weeks — 8,800 — and Li Auto, which posted a slight dip from 8,300 to 7,900 units.

XPeng registered 6,400 vehicles, rebounding from a slight dip in the previous week, while Xiaomi sold 5,600 vehicles, staying below the 6,000-unit mark.

Registrations for the Beijing-based brand’s debut SU7 remained higher than those for its main competitor, Tesla‘s Model 3 — despite its sales having increased by 65.4% to 4,290 units.

In the premium segment, the gap between Nio and Zeekr nearly closed, as the Shanghai-based company registered nearly 3,100 EVs and the Geely-backed brand listed 3,200.
