Tesla has extended the estimated delivery time for the Model Y Standard Range in France to May 2025, according to its local website. In contrast, immediate deliveries of the same variant are available in other key European markets, including Germany, the UK, and Spain.
The Model Y Long Range variant in France has a shorter estimated delivery time of one month. Tesla’s sales in France dropped 60% year-over-year in November to 3,773 vehicles, accounting for 2.8% of the country’s automotive market.
Within the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) segment, which reached a penetration rate of 17.4% in November, Tesla held a 16.2% share. Year-to-date sales for Tesla in France are down 35% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data compiled by the X user ‘Piloly’.
The updated version of the Model Y, the world’s bestselling vehicle, is expected to debut in the first half of next year. Images of the new version reportedly codenamed “Juniper,” undergoing road tests have circulated on social media in recent months.
The upcoming revamped version of the Model Y is expected to incorporate design changes introduced in the new Model 3 unveiled earlier this year, along with elements from Tesla’s robotaxi model, the Cybercab.
Based on recently shared images, most exterior changes to the Model Y will focus on the front and rear ends, while the overall shape of the vehicle remains largely the same.
In early November, Tesla announced a promotion offering one year of free supercharging to customers who purchase and take delivery of a Model Y before the end of the year.
“1 year of free Supercharging All you have to do is order & take delivery of your Model Y before Dec 31,” the company stated on X.
At the last earnings call, held in late October, the company said it expects “slight growth in vehicle deliveries in 2024,” aiming to deliver at least 515,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter. Tesla’s record is 484,507 deliveries which was achieved in the fourth quarter of 2023.
