The Tesla Model Y, the world’s best-selling vehicle and set to receive a refreshed version in early 2025, has dethroned the Nissan Leaf, which had been the top-selling vehicle in the country for approximately 13 years.

Sales of the SUV model crossed 59,775 units in Norway while Nissan’s model has sold 58,860 units since its introduction in the country.

On the second day of August, 107 Tesla Model Y units were sold in Norway, representing a new record while monthly figures reached 2,102 units.

The Volvo EX30 and Škoda Enyaq registered 866 and 778 sales respectively over the same period becoming the second and third most sold EVs in Norway, data from EU-EVs reveal.

Tesla keeps growing in popularity in Norway as the region has purchased 43,910 units of the Model 3 and 21,516 units of the Model S over the years.

Earlier this month, the country crossed a major milestone becoming the first country with more electric vehicles than internal combustion ones.

Of the 2.8 million cars registered in the country, 754,303 are all-electric while 753,905 are internal combustion or hybrid vehicles, according to Norway’s road federation.

Separately, Tesla is returning to the Paris Auto Show in October to showcase the Model S, 3, X, and Y but also the Cybertruck and the Gen 2 humanoid robot Optimus.
