Tesla launched on Friday its new, more affordable Model Y trim in Europe, two days after it was released in the United States.
According to the company’s website, deliveries of the new model in the Old Continent will begin in November.
The European units will come equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and include the AutoPilot feature, unlike the US version introduced earlier this week.
Tesla has started emailing European customers to promote the new version, which offers a WLTP range of 534 km (about 330 miles).
As the Standard version was released, the nomenclatures for the Model Y were changed — the refreshed Model Y, as it was launched earlier this year, is now the Premium version, below the Performance one.
In the Netherlands, the base model, available as Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) only, starts at €39,990, while the Premium version is priced from €50,990 (about $59,500).
In Germany, where Tesla has established its European factory, the Model Y Standard’s prices begin from €40,970 ($47,800).
Tesla began production of the revamped Model Y at GigaBerlin in February, and added the Performance variant in September.
The Model Y Premium is available in both Rear-Wheel and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) versions, priced from €45,970 ($53,600) and €50,970 ($59,500), respectively.
The Model Y Performance AWD is priced from €62,970 ($73,500).
Earlier this week, GigaBerlin chief André Thierig told employees that the Model Y Standard, as the trim is called, will be produced in the European factory later this year.
On Thursday, Tesla has also introduced a new color option for the Model Y in several European countries — the ‘Marine Blue,’ which will only be produced in the German plant.
The color is available on Model Y Premium and Performance trims only, for €1,300.
On Friday, X user DriveTesla Canada noted that in Europe, the Model Y Standard includes Autopilot, which consists of Autosteer and Traffic-Aware Cruise Control (TACC).
In the US, however, the Model Y Standard only comes with TACC, and Autosteer is not included.
The cheapest trim of Tesla‘s best-selling SUV is currently only available in left-hand drive markets. A right-hand drive version is expected to arrive in the UK at a later stage.
As of Friday, the Model Y RWD, now equivalent to the Model Y Premium RWD in several other European markets, is priced from £44,990 ($67,000).
The Model Y Performance AWD, already available in the island, starts from £61,990 ($83,100).
Despite the new model launches — the company also introduced a new version of its Model 3 in the US earlier this week — Tesla shares have dropped nearly 4% in the past two days.
In the past three months, the stock has jumped 38.9%.
