Tesla on Tuesday rolled out the beta version of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software in Mexico, marking the first time the advanced driver-assistance system has been made available in the country.

The expansion was confirmed by Tesla’s AI account in a post on social media platform X, stating, “¡Hola México!”

The company started selling its Cybertruck model in Mexico in September.

FSD in Europe + China

Tesla said last September it plans to introduce FSD in Europe and China in the first quarter of this year as part of an AI roadmap update. In the same post, the company said the rollout remains subject to regulatory approval.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk also commented at the time, saying that right-hand drive markets would follow in late first quarter or early second quarter. “Hopefully, RHD markets in late Q1, early Q2, pending regulatory approval,” Musk wrote.

Ford x Tesla’s FSD

Last week, amid its fourth-quarter earnings call, Ford’s chief executive Jim Farley was asked about a potential partnership on autonomous driving technology.

The CEO said the company “will make a practical decision,” admitting that the team is aware of Tesla’s full self driving (FSD) software.

Without naming Tesla, Farley said the automaker does not refuse to not “look at other people’s system or not believe that Level 4 personal autonomy is going to be interesting at some point.”

“They’re making a lot of progress over there on Level 4, and it is time for us, not just in the US, but globally, they’re looking at and that’s why we made some of the announcements we did today because we need a strong strategy team to decide do we partner, do we continue to ride our own team into this Level 4 personal autonomy, and I think you’re going to find just like our move on Argo, we’ll be thoughtful and practical,” he stated.
