Tesla said on Thursday it delivered 495,570 vehicles in the last quarter of 2024, taking its annual delivery figures to 1,789,226, down 1% from the 1.81 million units delivered in 2023.
The fourth quarter deliveries included 471,930 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles and 23,640 units of other models including the Cybertruck, the Model S and the Model S.
The company added that it produced 459,445 vehicles between October and December. As of the time of writing, Tesla shares are trading 4.5% lower at $386.

To surpass its 2023 figures, Tesla needed to achieve 515,000 deliveries in the fourth quarter. Wall Street consensus, based on estimates from 26 analysts, projected 506,763 vehicle deliveries.
Tesla had said in October that it expected to achieve “slight growth in vehicle deliveries in 2024,” and aims to deliver more than 500,000 vehicles in a single quarter for the first time.

“In the fourth quarter, we produced approximately 459,000 vehicles, delivered over 495,000 vehicles and deployed 11.0 GWh of energy storage products – a record for both deliveries and deployments,” Tesla said in a statement.
BYD announced on Wednesday that it sold 4,272,145 vehicles in 2024, marking a 41.26% increase from the previous year and surpassing its annual target of 4 million units. However, the figures include both hybrid and fully electric models.
Focusing solely on battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales, BYD achieved a record-breaking quarter in Q4, delivering 595,413 BEVs.
Tesla’s 2025 Model Y
The Tesla Shanghai factory is set to produce two upgraded versions of the Model Y. One is the refreshed Model Y, which is scheduled for mass production in January 2025, with the 6-seater version following later in the year.
The upgraded Model Y is expected to bring to the revamped Model 3, including changes to its exterior and interior design, battery capacity, and performance. The new version, codenamed “Juniper,” has been spotted in China but also in the U.S. during road tests.
The second version is a 6-seater Model Y, which is expected to be delivered in the last quarter of 2025.
