Tesla has announced on Friday a substantial price cut for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised subscriptions in the U.S. and also introduced the subscription model in Canada at CA$99 per month.
The monthly fee for the FSD system in the United States has been cut from $199 to $99 aiming to boost the adoption of the technology and follows Tesla’s recent move of providing a FSD demo in North America to all customers when delivering a car.
NEVER MISS AN UPDATE
Last month, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in an email “Going forward, it is mandatory in North America to install and activate FSD V12.3.1 and take customers on a short test ride before handing over the car”. In the same email, Musk added that “almost no one actually realizes how well (supervised) FSD actually works” while recognizing that the measure could “slow down the delivery process”.
Tesla‘s VP for Public Policy and Business Development Rohan Patel engaged recently in an open discussion on X about the technology enhancing that the recently updated EU regulations of Driver Control Assistance Systems in Europe are “encouraging”.
However, he defended that they still “don’t address the key issue (system initiated maneuvers)” which would enable the “safety benefits of Tesla‘s FSD Supervised”.
