Tesla reported its fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday, and despite both earnings per share (EPS) and revenue falling short of Wall Street consensus, the subsequent conference call included several announcements that drove the stock higher.

Before the conference call started, Tesla shares were trading around 2% higher but surged on Musk’s comments and closed the after-hours trading session 5% higher. Before the results, the stock closed 2.2% lower on Wednesday at $389.

“I see a path. I’m not saying it’s an easy path but I see a path of Tesla being the most valuable company in the world by far,” Musk said at the beginning of his opening remarks.

“Not even close, like maybe several times more than — I mean, there is a path where Tesla is worth more than the next top five companies combined. There’s a path to that,” he added.

As of today, Apple — which was the first company to reach the $1 trillion, $2 trillion and $3 trillion market cap milestones — ranks as the most valuable company in the world with a market cap of $3.6 trillion. Based on Wednesday’s closing price, Tesla’s market cap stands now at $1.25 trillion.

Musk said the company is “setting up for what I think will be an epic 2026 and a ridiculous ’27 and ’28, ridiculously good” — “That is my prediction.”

Musk also noted that “very few” people understand the value of self-driving and the company’s ability to monetize the fleet.

Tesla delivered a new record of 495,570 vehles in the fourth quarter of 2024, falling short of Bloomberg’s consensus estimate of 506,763 but up from 484,507 a year earlier.

For the full year, Tesla delivered 1,789,226 vehicles globally, missing Bloomberg’s estimate of 1,801,709 and down from 1,808,581 in 2023. Production for the year totaled 1,773,443 vehicles, below the 1,845,985 produced in the prior year.
