Tesla is ramping up production at its most productive Gigafactory in Shanghai as it pushes for stronger fourth-quarter deliveries in China and across the Asia-Pacific region.
Grace Tao, Tesla’s vice president for China, said on Monday that the company has begun an “intensive production ramp-up” at the Shanghai plant to ensure customers “can receive their cars as soon as possible.”
“In the past few days, Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory has kicked off a vigorous production ramp-up for the fourth quarter,” Tao wrote on Weibo.
“Our colleagues at the Shanghai factory are working hard to expand capacity and sprint at full power — so that customers in China and across the Asia-Pacific region can receive their cars as soon as possible.”
She added that the plant has made “comprehensive preparations to ensure strong support and incentives for all employees,” without providing further details.
Tesla sold 71,525 vehicles in China in September, its second-highest monthly totalin 2025, according to data released Monday by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
The Shanghai facility exported 19,287 vehicles in September, up 19.6% year-on-year but down 25.9% from August.
Tesla earlier this month launched a new round of sales incentives in China as the final quarter of the year began. These include 0% financing offers for purchases of the revamped Model Y, valid through October 21.
For the five-seat Model Y, both the Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range AWD versions qualify for 0% APR financing over five years, requiring a down payment of 79,900 yuan ($11,200) and monthly payments starting at 3,060 yuan ($430).
For the six-seat Model Y L, customers can choose 0% APR financing over three years, with a 99,900 yuan ($14,000) down payment and monthly payments from 6,642 yuan ($930).
Tesla’s Model Y lineup starts at 263,500 yuan ($37,000) for the base model, while the three-row version launched in August starts at 339,900 yuan ($47,700).
The Model 3 RWD begins at 235,500 yuan ($33,100), and the Model 3 Performance AWD at 339,500 yuan ($47,700).
In August, Tesla also introduced the Model 3 Long Range RWD, offering up to 830 kilometers of range, before trimming its price by 10,000 yuan to 259,500 yuan ($36,450).
Buyers can also receive an 8,000 yuan ($1,100) insurance subsidy and 0% financing for orders placed before October 31.
Tesla delivered 497,000 vehicles globally in the third quarter of 2025, a new record.
