Shaquille O’Neal Sells His Two Cybertrucks Over Lack of Range

The retired four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal said on Thursday he has sold both of his Tesla Cybertrucks and traded for a Cadillac Escalade IQ, which the brand claims to have the longest range of any fully electric SUV.

“I was into the Cybertrucks, but they don’t get enough… I want to say, what’s the word I’m looking for? Electric mileage… charging mileage,” he stated in his podcast named The Big Podcast w/ Shaq.

The NBA star said he switched to Cadillac’s luxury SUV Escalade IQ which features a 205kWh battery, nearly the double when compared to the Tesla Cybertruck.

“Then I just got one of those IQ system Escalades. Today I was in Vegas, I ain’t have to charge up for four days. My Cybertruck here, if I go downtown to work tonight and come back, I’m going to be struggling to get back.”

Here’s the video where Shaquille O’Neal commented on Cybertruck’s range.

The fully electric Escalade IQ weighs roughly 9,000 pounds, largely due to its 205.0-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery—the largest ever in a Cadillac. The battery provides a targeted range of up to 460 miles on a full charge, according to the company.

Prices start at  $127,405 for the 7-seater SUV which goes from 0 to 60mph in 4.7 seconds.

In August, Shaq got his second Cybertruck, this one customized with a black wrap, 26-inch rims, and underlights. “I hate to say it, but I got the cleanest Cybertruck in the country,” O’Neal stated in a video shared on social media.

Late last year, Shaquille O’Neal added a Lucid Air to his car collection, but with a twist. In a social media post, he shared his new fully electric sedan featuring larger side doors and a redesigned rear window.

Shaq’s car collection includes also a 1998 Ferrari 355 F1 Spider, a 2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a 2001 Chevrolet Express G1500 and a Tesla Cybertruck. The NBA star has often customized several of his vehicles.

The customization of the Lucid Air sedan also includes O’Neal’s signature “Superman” logo on black multispoke alloy wheels. Here’s the video shared on Instagram.
