Tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee, widely known as MKBHD, said on Sunday via Instagram that he has sold his Tesla Cybertruck. The post featured an image of the vehicle with the caption “Sold.” When asked why he sold the vehicle, Brownlee responded on X, stating, “TL;DR I like the Rivian better.”
Addressing a follow-up question on X about whether his preference stemmed from Rivian’s self-driving technology or safety features, Brownlee clarified: “We all know FSD [Full Self-Driving] is better than Rivian’s, but people on this site act like it’s the #1 buying factor for regular people when it’s not.”

Brownlee, who reviewed the Cybertruck in March after one month and 2,000 miles of ownership, published a video titled “Tesla Cybertruck Review: Already Iconic?” that has since accumulated nearly 4.5 million views.
Still commenting on the sale, Brownlee stated he was “one of the earliest” to review the model and noted that while he called it “iconic,” he faced criticism for “not being harsh enough on it.”
When accused of being “a late convert” to the model, the Youtuber wrote, “You may recall I was one of the earliest to review the Cybertruck, called it iconic and took a lot of heat for not being harsh enough on it.”
In 2024, Brownlee reviewed several EV models, including Lucid’s Air sedan (the entry-level variant ‘Pure’ and the luxury variant ‘Sapphire’), the Polestar 3 SUV, the VW ID. Buzz, the Ferrari Purosangue, and several others.
After reviewing Lucid’s most luxurious variant in June, MKBHD has recently reviewed the $249,000 Lucid Air Sapphire, comparing it with the $89,990 Tesla Model S Plaid.
