Germany February Deliveries: Tesla led with 21% of Market share (VW, KIA, Hyundai, …)

In February 2022, Tesla led the German sales with an impressive 21% EV Market share and a total of 5,944 units sold — 3,690 Model 3 and 2,254 Model Y. These two models were the top sellers in Germany and by far: the third most sold EV was Fiat 500E with 1,392 units, up from 1,261 units sold in January but down from #1 on the models ranking with the arrival of Tesla models from GigaShangai. The German brand was followed by Hyundai and Kia, with 9.7% and 8.5% of Market share respectively. The second manufacturer with the most electric vehicles sold was Volkswagen with 2,855 units (10.1% share) and Hyundai with 2,407 units representing a market share of 8.5%. The German brand has already many EV models launched with the ID.e, ID.4 and UP! models among the top-15 models sold last month.

Hyundai comes third on the brand ranking and its Kona model was the fourth best selling model with the IONIQ 5 ranking #9th. The model has a starting price of 59,550€ ($65,963 USD). Renault and BMW close the top-5 brands by sales during February 2022 with 6.3% and 6% of Market share, respectively.

In February 2022, Polestar sold 363 units of its Polestar 2 model being the 15th best selling model in Germany. The result represents an increase of 111% from the previous month, when the company delivered 172 vehicles in Germany. During Q4 2021, Polestar had a 0.9% Market share with 1,025 units.

KIA sold a total of 914 units in Germany during the month reaching a market share of 3.2%. The company has currently 3 EV models available with the KIA NIRO model leading the sales in the country with 554 units. The recently launched EV6 model had 228 units delivered and KIA SOUL registered 127 units.

Q4 2021

During the fourth Quarter of 2021, Volkswagen delivered 17,700 units (14.8% Market share) in Germany, 2.5% more than the second brand on the ranking, Renault with 14,704 units. Tesla was the third best selling brand with 13,743 Model 3 and Model Y. Tesla Model 3 was the best selling model with 11,280 units followed by Renault Zoe and Volkswagen UP! with 10,980 and 8,907 units respectively.
