Elon Musk has filed a 13G, showing he currently owns 231,715,206 Tesla shares, which represents a 21.2% stake in the company. Based onMonday’s closing price, the shares worth around $212 Billion. The ownership stake already considers the recent donation made by Musk of 5,044,000 Tesla shares, valued at $5.7 Billion. Check the file here.

According to a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Musk donated 5,044,000 Tesla shares from Nov. 19 to Nov. 29. The donation was valued at $5.7 billion and was done when the company share price was above $1,000. The filing doesn’t name the charity and shows an unidentified trust was involved in the transaction. The donation value is similar to the one mentioned at the time by the director of the UN World Food Programme (WFP), Eli David, when criticising Tesla’s CEO regarding his ability to solve world hunger with a $6B donation. However, it is not confirmed that Musk donated with this purpose.
Responding to this tweet, Musk said “If WFP (World Food Program) can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.”
The donation came during a sold of $16.4 billion worth in shares after polling Twitter users about offloading 10% of his stake in the electric-car maker in early November for Tax purposes. Musk paid more than $11 billion in taxes in 2021 due to his exercise of stock options set to expire this year.
According to CNN, Musk has established a foundation that makes grants in support of causes including pediatric research and science education, but there are few details available on its bare-bones website.
As of 12:29 PM, Tesla stock is rising 4.34% at $913 per share.
