Rivian’s Limited-Edition R1S Miami Edition Nearly Sold Out With One Unit Left

Rivian has sold nine of the 10 limited-edition R1S Quad ‘Miami Edition’ SUVs it announced in early December, leaving just one unit still available.

The ‘Miami Edition’ was first revealed in September to mark the opening of Rivian’s Miami Brickell retail location.

It features Glacier White exterior paint with aqua and pink accents, custom-painted 22-inch Miami Edition wheels, and an Ocean Coast and Driftwood interior.

The information was revealed on a LinkedIn post over the weekend by Sevannah Blackwell, a Rivian Assistant Sales Manager in Arizona.

“Just sold one so only 1 opportunity left! Who’s it going to be?,” Blackwell wrote, refering to the “only two Rivian Miami Editions available.”

Pricing and Orders

Priced at $134,990, the limited edition costs $13,000 more than the standard R1S Quad, which starts at $121,990.

While most Rivian models can be purchased directly via the online configurator, the Miami Edition required a direct request.

Customers were able to submit orders through a campaign page on the company’s website — which, as of press time, was no longer available.

Limited Editions

Rivian has launched other limited editions for its R1 models, mainly focused on the color of the exterior; however, this was the first location-based one.

Nearly a year ago, the company released the ‘California Dune Edition’ for both its R1S and R1T models, a Tri-motor vehicle with both interior and exterior new paint colors.

The starting price for the R1T was $99,900, while the R1S began at $105,900. These prices are unchanged from the standard models.

While the company didn’t specify how many units of each model were produced, it did state that it was a limited edition.

Then, late last year, Rivian launched a purple exterior color that it called ‘Borealis,’ stating that it would be available for a limited time for both its R1 vehicles.

Rivian Design

The company has not said whether the ‘Borealis’ purple will be an optional color for the upcoming R2, as the vehicle’s exterior color options have not yet been revealed.

Rivian‘s brand logo bears its ‘Compass Yellow,’ which used to be offered as an optional exterior color with the R1 builds, but was discontinued in 2023 amid low demand.

In a conversation with Access late last week, Rivian‘s founder and CEO RJ Scaringe discussed the company’s design language and color choices.

According to Scaringe, Rivian has a design language “that’s more calming or more approachable.”

“I think culturally and from a societal point of view, a lot of people are drawn to that. Something that feels timeless, it’s not too aggressive, it’s not trying too hard,” he stated.
