Rivian is expanding its service network ahead of the R2 SUV launch, as the EV maker prepares to enter a lower price segment that could multiply its addressable market.
As of its latest earnings call earlier this month, the company reported operating 97 service locations — just shy of the 100 it had targeted by the end of 2025 — alongside 36 showrooms and nearly 700 mobile service vehicles.
Additionally, the Irvine-based EV maker has over 20 locations “in the works” across the US and Canada, according to the Service Map available in its website.
East Coast
While Rivian‘s network in the West Coast — where it is based — is well established, the East Coast is its next frontier.
The company signaled this shift last July by opening an East Coast headquarters in Atlanta — close to its second factory, which finally broke ground in September, three years after the deal was first signed.
Rivian had intended to begin R2 production in the Georgia plant, however, delays to its construction have led the company to switch it to Normal, Illinois.
Over the weekend, the EV maker officially launched its new Service Center in Clifton Park, New York, as announced by Project Manager Emmitt Begley on LinkedIn.
“Serving the greater Albany area,” as Begley pointed out, the new service center joins four other locations across the State, including East Syracuse, which opened in mid-2025.
In the south, closer to New York City, Rivian operates service centers in Brooklyn, Blauvelt, and Long Island.
South
In Florida, Rivian currently operates service centers in Miami, Tampa, Fort Myers, and Orlando, with two more locations in the works.
One of them, a 48,243-square-foot service and demo center in St. Augustine’s St. Johns County, is set to open in “early 2026” according to local permits reviewed in late 2025 — making it the northernmost location in the state.
Florida was also the first state to have a limited edition dedicated to one of its cities: the R1S Quad ‘Miami’ Edition.
The company’s service network in Texas spans Austin, Dallas, Houston, Katy, San Antonio, and Fort Worth.
The EV maker is investing $9.9 million in a new parts distribution center in the latter.
According to state filings revealed late last month, the company is planning to open a new service and sales facility in Round Rock, north of Austin.
The project costs around $9.5 million, with construction scheduled to begin in March and take a year to complete.
Besides Texas and Florida, Rivian‘s presence in other Southern states is residual.
Midwest
Most legacy automakers are based in the Midwest, with Michigan at the center of the industry — home to Ford, GM, and Stellantis, all headquartered in the Detroit area.
Michigan is one of the border states, connected to Ontario, Canada’s auto industry base.
Ohio and Indiana, south of Michigan, also have a strong auto manufacturing.
Rivian‘s main plant is located in Normal, Illinois. It operates four service centers in the state.
The EV maker is preparing to open new service centers in Indiana and Wisconsin, despite these not currently being advertised in the Service Map.
User ‘tony4d’ posted on X last month that the “new Rivian Service Center in Fishers, Indiana (Indianapolis area) is coming along nicely.”
Placed “right next to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Airport on Masters Rd,” it signals the first service center the company opens in the state.
Last week, X user ‘jffxns’ posted updated images of the “upcoming Rivian service center being built in Appleton, WI (about 20 minutes southwest of Green Bay).”
Rivian operates a service center in Menomonee Falls, which is an hour and a half drive from Appleton.
Canada
The company only operates four service centers in Canada, mostly near the border with the US.
These locations serve as both service and demo centers.
They are located in the largest cities, including Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.
The Montreal location is temporary and scheduled to be replaced by a permanent one in Laval. Construction for the space broke ground in July 2025.
Late last year, Rivian quietly pushed back the R2’s launch in Canada, with the company’s website updating its timeline from 2026 to “Coming 2027.”
